The IESO2009 Pre-conference was held during June 22-24, 2009 at the National Taiwan Normal University, Taipei, Taiwan.
There was a total of 7 countries participating in this event and these countries include: India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Nigeria , Philippines, and Taiwan. The Pre-conference began with welcome dinner and a brief introduction of each participant. The field trip orientation was later presented by Dr. Chun-sun Lee, a prominent geologist in Taiwan.
The next day, a one-day field trip was arranged to Northeastern coast of Taiwan. As the NE coast of Taiwan is a good place to study rocks, sedimentary structures, folds, faults and joints, many questions/discussion were brought up by the participants during the trip. A total of 13 stops was visited this day.
On the last day of the Pre-conference, participants visit both written and practical test sites, and then Dr. Chun-yen Chang presented the progress of the 3rd IESO preparation and arrangement. General discussion was followed after Dr. Chang’s presentation, several questions/suggestions regarding September IESO agenda, registration, method of tests, and difficulty of test item…etc. Some practical test equipments were also demonstrated.
