The College of Science Campus, founded in 1977, is located at Kungkuan, Taipei City. College of Science consists of six departments (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Life Science, Earth Sciences, and Computer Science & Information Engineering) and four graduate institutes (Science Education, Environmental Education, Electro-optical Science & Technology, and Marine Environmental Science & Technology). The diversity of science-related programs may help equip students for future careers such as becoming a school teacher or working in industry as a scientist in basic or applied science.
The nine-hectare campus is surrounded by large Araucaria and Cassia trees. The Sustainable Campus and the European Park and are two of the beautiful landscapes in the College of Science Campus. Based on a project initiated by the College of Science in 2003, the Sustainable Campus is established to create a platform for first-hand teaching and learning experience for sustainability in the university. Starting in 2004, the university converted the administration building and the garden into a Sustainable Campus. Through the development of the Sustainable Campus, four distinctive features are enabled: rainwater harvesting and black water treatment and recycling system, increasing the campus biodiversity, energy conservation system, and environmental education and interpretation system. European Park is another beautiful and verdant landscape surrounded by palm trees which creates a natural and comforting atmosphere for teachers and students to spend their leisure time in the campus.
