International Earth Science Olympiad 2009
03 Welcome / Ice Breaker Party
  Day 1

The IESO 2009 is going to take place within one month.  The aims of this international event are not only to pursue individual accomplishments in earth science, but also to promote the spirit of teamwork between people from different countries in order to figure out how to live in harmony with our Earth.  However, before cooperation, every participant of each country’s delegation must, at least, get a chance to know each other well.  Here comes the Ice Breaker Party.  It has been a tradition for the previous two International Earth Science Olympiads.  Thus, in order to help all participants get acquainted with each other, the IESO Local Organizing Committee has decided to hold this activity right after the Welcome Dinner on the very first day of this nine-day competition.  At this party, the organizing committee is going to play videos or PowerPoint files which every participating country should provide in advance.  The content of the video or PowerPoint file will focus on the delegates of each country.  Also, it may roughly present their country or the uniqueness of their culture.  The purpose of this party is not only to develop relationship between young students worldwide for their further collaboration in the field of Earth Science for our planet, but also to improve each participant’s understanding of distinct cultures.  Therefore, the organizing committee is looking forward to your vivid and interesting video clip.  Let’s break the ice and know each other better!
